| PROPOSED WATER MAIN, DISTRIBUTION, WELLHOUSE, AND WATER STORAGE TANK IMPROVEMENTS Chassell Township Notice of Intent to Apply to USDA Rural Development Rural Utility Service (RUS) Chassell Township intends to file an application for federal financial assistance to the USDA Rural Development for funds to make improvements to the water system. The water system improvements project to be funded by Rural Development is estimated to cost approximately $5,000,000. Chassell Township intends to apply for loan and grant funding to make these improvements. The proposed project includes removing and replacing aging water piping infrastructure, including associated valves, hydrants, and services on approximately two miles of Chassell Township’s water distribution system. The project also includes improvements to the water storage tank, water supply wells, and wellhouse upgrades. The existing water mains are old, deteriorating, undersized, and provide increased safety and health concerns within the community. The existing water supply wells, water storage tank, and wellhouse are in need of upgrades to ensure all water system components meet current permit requirements and regulations. The proposed water project is intended to be constructed in the 2027-2028 construction seasons, dependent on the availability of funds.
